Err, that’s after the people drink a beer, not after the mosquitoes do. Mosquitoes are very receptive to sights and smells when looking for blood. They are primarily drawn to the sight of dark colors (like black and navy blue) and the smell of carbon dioxide and other chemicals produced by the human body. While you can avoid being visually attractive to mosquitoes by your wardrobe choices, scientists find that a good 20% of the population is naturally prone to bug bites because of their smell.
The chemical composition of a person’s skin can be responsible for attracting mosquitoes, and this is influenced by a number of factors, including genetics, diet, and exercise. One factor that definitely attracts more mosquitoes is drinking alcohol, either because it increases the body’s production of CO2 or simply because it makes human skin warmer.
